CNC Machinist

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for a CNC machinist interested in working independently on one-offs and small lots of complex parts. We have a mix of older and new CNC equipment. You'll be deeply involved with the machining of CNC parts including planning, programming, setup and running the parts. If you are looking for more variety and independence in your CNC work, this may be a great fit.

                                                                                                                            

JOB TASKS

  • Program, Setup and Run CNC lathes and mills of various types

  • Current CNC Equipment

    • Haas VF-5/50 (new in 2017)

    • Mori Seiki SL-6B (Fanuc 6T controls)

    • OKK MCH-700 (Meldas 5000C II controls)

  • ​Work independently using your skills and experience to make quality parts on-time

  • Handling parts around the shop using cranes and forklifts

  • Other tasks and duties as required

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Journeyman level machinist by experience

  • Experience with CNC Lathes and/or Mills (older equipment a strong plus)

  • CNC machine programming

  • Conventional machining experience a big plus

  • Assembly and general millwright experience a plus

  • Strong work ethic

  • Works well independently

 

ABOUT US

Washington Machine Works is an independent Seattle machine shop specializing in precision machining of large industrial parts. We are known for our quality, attention to detail and customer service. Located in the Seattle Georgetown neighborhood, WMW has been machining parts since 1985 for diverse customers in the marine, aerospace, pulp and paper and specialty metals industries. WMW also does maintenance, repair and refurbishing work for many area industrial facilities. The shop has two 10-ton cranes, a 16-foot swing vertical lathe, two large horizontal boring mills, two CNC machining centers and two CNC lathes. Various other mills, lathes and drill-presses round out the capabilities. The average tenure of a machinist is over 15 years. We pride ourselves on great quality and being a great place to work.
